You breathe and I lose myself

You breathe and I aspire to be the motivating force.
I dreamt about you last night.
It was a restless dream, the kind where you just know,
Better open your eyes and get it over with.
Perhaps there are worries, deep within me,
Things we do not talk about.
I aspire to be the one who says,
I have it all figured out.
Instead, you breathe and I consume myself.
A toxic kind of air.
The breath of fresh air?
You might not find it around here.
We are not the same, my love.
A perfect match, I would say no.
Is anyone? I long to know.
You breathe and I sigh it out,
What are we doing here?
Actions not taken, words left unsaid.
You breathe and I need you.
Stop letting me hang on by a thread.
A California king bed and I’m alone.
Your absence, I know it all too well.
